Turning Stress into Rest #4 – Transformation   Pastor Phil Derstine ( 5-19-19)

Neutralize Stress with Perfect Peace

  • Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
  • Four Principles:

1) Identification – Know Who You Are.
2) Organization – Know What You’re trying to do.
3) Meditation – Get alone with God.
4) Transformation – Expect a Miracle!

Stress results from…

  • Lack of Hope
  • Being consumed with fear
  • Religion without Spiritual experience
  • Ephesians 3:20  God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to His power that works in us.”

Transformation: a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance.

  • Gr: metamorphoo – Like the change from caterpillar to butterfly
  • II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is     a new creation: old things are passed away; behold,  all things are become new.”
  • Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance.  But after me will come one who is more powerful than  I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”

How to be Transformed

  1. Renew your Mind
  • Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
  • D.R.I.P (Discover – Relate – Inspire – Prove) – is Progressive, the process of our faith.
  • Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.”II Corinthians 3:18 “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His     likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
  1. Recognize God
    • Exodus 3:2 “There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush.  Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. (3) So Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great     sight, why the bush is     not burnt.”
    • Burning Bush – a thorn tree (a trial or tribulation)
  • Look for the Fingerprints of God – how God is at work in your life.
  1. Restore your Mission
  • Mark 16:15 “Go ye (as you go) into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.”
  • Acts 1:8 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  • Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
