OFF ROAD (3) Pastor Phil Derstine 8/18/19

OFF ROAD (def.) – Away from a smooth road; on rough terrain.  Get off the man-made asphalt road of     predictability and conformity and discover the unique adventure the God has for your life.

Four-Wheel Drive ~ “The Power of Friendship”

    • Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
  • Two or Three + Christ = Synergism
  • Matthew 18:19 “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”

Three Hebrew Boys

  • Daniel 3:23 “And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. (24) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in hast, and spake, and said unto his counselors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?  They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. (25) He answered and said, Lo I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
  • Deuteronomy 32:30 “One shall chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight…”

Jonathan and Armor bearer

  • I Samuel 14:6 “Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, Come let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows.  Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few. (7) Do all that you have in mind, his armor-bearer said. Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.  (15)  Then panic struck the whole army – those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties – and the ground shook.  It was a panic sent by God.”
  • Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
  • Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. (10) For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.  But woe to him who is alone when he falleth, for he has no one to help him up. (12) Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him, and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Early Church – Book of Acts

  • Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
